dedicated to giving newcomers an honest platform to showcase their talents, this run of compilations is to be comprised of crystalline electronic music, spanning out across various forms. the inaugural offering sees villanova and time team up to reshape la chicas oasis with brushstrokes of subtle melancholy, teho fuse contemporary deep house with ukg and yeuz pair of idiosyncratic compositions, for the modern dance floor. label founder, agoria, ventures south of one hundred and ten beats per minute on his remix of embers, cloaking stefan smiths original in humility and innocence. a few words from the artists … about their tracks oasis: the original track brings us a very unique vibe, the work of the analog textures implement perfectly the unique voice of la chica …as soon as i listen to it i was hooked to make a remix that would keep the same feeling .. but adding the energy and dynamic to make it floor friendly. embers: other than music, stefans only other passion in life is reading samuel beckett. whilst reading his radio play embers he got a call from nicolas becker asking him to contribute some work to a project. he set about composing this track with becketts words reverberating around his head. this track somehow made it into the hands of becketts friend/collaborator agoria and here we are.

five dazzling remixes of population one s classic hippnotic culture lp by the detroit minimalist himself. kicking off with a 20th anniversary mix of rush hour, the track that inspired our company name! big big tip and a great honor.play it loud!objekt: these are wonderful. no surprise though- population one, also known as terrence dixon, offered a first remix of his mysterious, minimal detroit track rush hour for the celebration of the label s 10th anniversary and now blesses us with new takes on five hippnotic culture album tracks. the impressive hippnotic culture lp was originally released in 1995 on the long defunct utensil label, which was run by claude young.

isle of jura’s second longplayer reissue is an album from ingleton falls that touches upon ambient, dub, house and balearic styles and was originally released in 1991 as a limited run of 100 self distributed cassette tapes ingleton falls are andy hannam seymour and andy eardley from tyne and wear in newcastle. having come from a more traditional band background originally, ingleton falls was their electronic project and the result of a love of acts like dub syndicate, african headcharge, gary clail, the orb and the klf.

apollo presents a sublime mini album from melbourne duo albrecht labrooy aka sean la brooy and alex albrecht which will appeal to fans of suzanne kraft, tornado wallace and dawn of midi. the release is inspired by a visit to the beautiful wilson s promontory, a remote national park on the south east coast of australia. the tracklisting runs from morning through to nightime and tries to capture the feeling of each snapshot in time. their music is a delicate fusion of ambient electronic textures, live instrumentation and field recordings gauzy guitar melodies, dreamy synth arpeggios and throbbing rthymic pulses that feels equally at home in outdoor amphitheatres as well as dark nightclubs alternating between their cosmic/balearic deep house and more laid back introspections, tidal rivers gorgeously lush sounds are remarkably consistent rich, warm and organic with an emphasis on atmosphere and the transportation of the listener. each track was the fruit of albrecht labrooys long improvised jamming process heavily involved in their local scene, the duo co-run the analogue attic imprint, championing this gentler side of electronic music in australia which has proven a fertile incubator for their own development, across a series of ambitious and ear catching eps, alongside local cohorts such as sleep d, rings around saturn and udmo. this involvement also extends to including local players on their recording sessions as well as their cosmic live shows. the tidal river album includes a quartet of jazz musicians including label-mate matthew hayes on bass guitar, guitarist oliver paterson, spanish cajon courtesy of joseph batrouney and night time saxophone debut by josh kelly.

once again we are sending a new release of acoustic signals from the collectively-run kindergarten at berlins east cross. after a techno focus on the last release, this one is a bit more melodic and housey. with “hot lies,” egon elliut contributes a well-crafted house track, newly revised in the “zkb taking the bus version” by one of our current favorite producers, zk bucket. with lots of love for detail, it’s a real pleasure. perel is no stranger to ://about blank. for years she has convinced us with her fantastic live sets, as a dj, she is just as grounded. “opal” sounds exactly like that — a shimmering, contemporary version of disco, an album on dfa is coming soon! our resident jessamine is releasing his first track ever on this mini compilation— rough and warm, with a touch of the 80’s in sound design, “more love later” has become a beautiful, harmonious and melodic love slider—suitable more for the later club hours. more love later!

a lot of bands are trying what the exorcist are doing, to make timeless, mind bending, dance music but they often fail in reaching all the way. the exorcist is the band that seem to exist in a dimension, much like ours but that lacks time as we know it, time is stretchable backwards and forward, and being in this dimension allows you to travel while, still staying in one place. call it time travel if you will or moving outside of time rather. the exorcist does this. also they reach our dimension.
“ii”, released on hoga nord rekords is dimension expanding and time dissolving music.

the japanese producer and dj kuniyuki takahashi is the subject of music from memory’s latest retrospective compilation with early tape works - 1986-1993. composed of two volumes, the compilations gather together a selection of tracks from a tiny run of privately released tape only albums, highlighting a fascinating early period in kuniyuki’s musical output, one of which little is known.

as ever, the next project on opilec music is one with a rich back story this time paying homage to a very specific disco scene of the early 80s: it finds label boss i-robots turning out one of his brilliant reconstructions, namely of a classic and cult track by one hit wonders ahzz. this track was first released on land of hits, a label run by peter brown (who also wrote -material girl- for madonna) and michael campbell and has now been officially licensed for this reissue by opilec music. the track, new york s movin was huge on the new york disco scene and was played by the likes of david mancuso at the loft, larry levan at the paradise garage and by nicky siano at studio 54, but continued to be a big hit with modern new york tastemakers kenny dope, dj spinna, danny krivit and his body & soul party crew well into the 90s, as well as with stars like motor city drum ensemble and bulljun. i-robots is a notorious producer and record collector with a vast understanding of the history of house and disco and his version combines an original vocal and instrumental version into something really magical. new york s movin (i-robots reconstruction take i) is a jangling, organic and lose limbed disco number with a funky drum line, soul in its bones and plenty of lovably rough percussion, clicks and drums. a retro and impassioned vocal line adds flair to the track at the midpoint just before that groove kicks once more. this version is featured on the new i-robots - reconstructions 2007-2017 10th year anniversary release. new york s movin (i-robots reconstruction take ii) is then just as emotive and outgoing but after the break has more of a focus on funk. this is a huge party starting track filled with feel good vibes and once again proves opilec music work on only the most special projects.

january 26th sees dj deep, setaoc mass and akirahawks take control for the first of three drops on parker s own work them records imprint. following months will see two further 12s surface with radio slave, fettburger, italojohnson, rising sun, nic fanciulli and tijana t versions. released on the berlin-based label earlier this year, different shapes and sizes comprised three eps which displayed a variety of parker s house and techno directions. subsequently, cuts from the ep have become summer staples for the likes of ryan elliott, the black madonna, honey soundsystem and midland. on ep01, parisian legend dj deep continues an amazing run of form this year with two subtle but powerful versions of shape fascination while homopatik and buttons resident akirahawks moulds riff shapes into an off-kilter disco creeper. work them records and figure artist setaoc mass closes the ep with a strident interpretation of shape fascination

the “natty dread a weh she want” set brings together two legends of reggae music. the stylish and unmistakable falsetto voice of singer horace andy and the production/dj singing skills of tapper zukie. both artists catalogues of music stand up strong but this, originally released 1979 set of songs seems to have brought something special out of both of them when producing/writing and arranging this set of tunes. “natty dread a weh she want” was a massive hit when it was released by tapper zukie and horace andy but this timeless track still sounds as fresh today as the day it was released in 1979, as do the other tracks on this fine album.

2018 repress ,how much do you really know about nina kraviz? shes a russian techno dj, an accomplished producer, one of dance musics breakthrough names of the last five years. true enough, but theres so much more to her story than that. shes one of electronic musics most interesting characters, someone who has stuck to her musical guns since day one, someone who has wide-ranging roots that run deep in the past, yet shes also the embodiment of the future. her signature sound is a raw blend of house and techno with a very acidic feel. if that feels very now, kraviz has a lot to do with it, which is why she was asked to mix the latest instalment of !k7s landmark dj kicks series.

optimo music don’t generally do limited edition releases but when the golden filter did these extra mixes of “end of times”, the a1 track off their recent ep we thought they were too good to remain in the digital domain so have pressed up a small run of 12” singles aimed specifically at djs. the original single version is a future synth classic. these new dub versions take it to the dancefloor and have been tried and tested around the world over the last few months. they are considerably extended, dubbed out and add extra dynamics & ecstatic synth power with hints of the original vocal. there is a slo mo version at 103 bpm and a faster version at 118bpm which means the track should work any time from warm up to peak set. there is also a drone-apella version included too.

brosh records comes with the vinyl only release written and produced by yaar kü. deep, organic, immersive, minimalistic and unique sounds came altogether to create the unbelievable release of the label that is run by mr. petar cvetkovic.

laesh another newcomer to roots for bloom delivers a club ready three tracker with ripples of early sneak influences and robsoul-ish vibes. all three run on a similar tip relying on samples fresh and more well known alike but all three will do the job on the floors.

much may have changed over a two-decade period, but drumcode s commitment to releasing the scene s most cutting-edge and refined techno remains resolute. 2017 has already seen releases from adam beyer vs pig&dan, alan fitzpatrick, ilario alicante, julian jeweil, as well as a debut album from layton giordani. the label continues push forwards, bringing fail-safe, club-ready music to the techno community. perennial pushers of the techno envelope, dense & pika are renowned for their standout studio output that seems to constantly conjure up a particularly unique take on their distinct sound, d&p have rather outdone themselves in 2017. kicking off the year with a selection of back catalogue remixes from the likes of danny daze, scuba, slam and yotam avni that illustrated the high esteem in which d&p are held by their peers right across the spectrum, from heritage acts to current headliners and cutting edge talent, the duo have gone on to drop bomb after bomb after bomb. their universally lauded remix of tiga s louder than a bomb was the first of a run of chart topping cuts, with a remix of me & her s wild rage on jamie jones hottrax imprint and their own casino single both challenging the norm of what techno sounds like in the here and now. cooked up with a more melodic vibe and fusing elements of house and techno, dense & pika s latest outing on drumcode offers something different compared to their previous work. there is still that vintage feel to each of the tracks with analogue sounds and arrangements born and developed from experimental studio jams. indeed, suki heavily utilizes the distinct harmonic tones of the dave smith prophet 8 keyboard. while little sun - a staple of d&p performances over the last three months - delivers a more classic drumcode sound. lanky closes out the release with an infectious slab of wonderfully wonked-out raw funk

perc trax completes its duo of “bitter music” remix eps with this three tracker that aims directly for the dance floor. opening up proceedings is dax j, who has enjoyed a meteoric rise over the last few years and who here serves up an irresistible take on “unelected” fueled by the driving energy his productions and sets have become famous for. next up stroboscopic artefacts boss lucy layers shifting textures over popping kick drums for a version of “wax apple” that perfectly blends form and function. lastly matrixxman, himself another of the key break out artists of the last few years, takes control of “rat run” and morphs in into a rolling drum track built on rolling toms and topped off with dubbed out elements of perc’s original mix.

fifth release on jackie brown comes from mb22, owner of one of the most interesting mexican labels departures. two modern instrumental funk jams on the b side, and two stunning house efforts on the a side. jb sound as always promoting soul, jazz, boogie and funk!

tripmastaz - probably the only funky russian you will ever meet. the only russian artist with releases on cocoon, minus, desolat, cadenza. the only russian artist with 4 vinyl labels. hes funky housey remix is the most faithful of the four.
bpmf – schmer label head provides a grimey and noisey big bottom soviet style jam.
steve stoll - nyc acid legend made a hard banging acid tracer.
in 1996 serotonin label heads selway and szostek went to moscow to perform at the invitation of &#1055,&#1058,&#1070,&#1063, magazine. synapse performed at the -waterclub- and met the legendary dj compass vrubell. they went to his -studio- where he had perfected the art of making entire tracks out patterns on the yamaha dx-5. szostek brought a dat of these jams back to nyc and schmer-003 dj rx-5 -a taste for crap- was released as a small run white label in 97. the run sold out and disappeared to be forgotten forever... until 2016 szostek casually mentions its existence to techno uber-nerd nina kraviz who just had to have it for her -fabric 91- cd. so dj rx-5 was back from the ash heap of history and schmer got a new release from him on schmer07. then schmer got the word out far and wide that they d like a remix ep for two of the originals: compass provided stems because like a miracle he still had the patterns after 20 years. heeding the call were pointsman, tripmastaz, steve stoll and schmer s own bpmf. so this is what you get: -a taste for remix-. it will leave your lips wanting more, for sure!

a classic italo disco / boogie-funk album from 1982 back on vinyl!

nice price deal !!! following our quest for inventive approaches within the sometimes tired and highly commodified house / tech house / techno / minimal or whatever you call it scene, we ve gone this time for landesvatter. regardless of having already signed a few full lenght lps on the highly esteemed normoton as well as on under_line and others, joachim landesvatter prefers to keep a low-key atittude. he offers us two great tracks, each one followed by a very special remix. the original of nome is a highly bouncy digitech house track for the dancefloor, with an infectious sinewave to keep you hooked from beggining to end. the remix of nome, in charge of arp aubert (marco niemerski aka tensnake & stephan lorenz) who run the great mirau musik, comes on the form of a hysterical dub house track that literally puts >the roof in the air<. we recommended for full effect to keep the volume on the red. as usual, the second half of the release follows at a quieter pace. hausse is a track on a out to lunch tradition, greatly influenced by detroit but at the same time distancing itself from the current plethora of nostalgics. in-house duo taron-trekka closes the package with a deep remix, rich on freaky jazz touches. we lack words to describe it.
